AABC 2011 – Overview & Highlightst

Nearly 900 attendees from 6 continents and 440 companies gathered for the 11th international Advanced Automotive Batteries Conference in Pasadena, California, from January 24 - 28, 2011. Leading automakers, their suppliers and stakeholders convened for dynamic discussions regarding the latest in energy-storage technology for vehicle electrification and the latest developments in large lithium-ion technology. At a time of unprecedented funding for electrification initiatives, AABC 2011 presenters challenged optimistic sales predictions for electric vehicles and explored the industry’s concerns regarding advanced battery safety, reliability, durability and cost. The conference also included AABC’s first Battery Modeling Workshop and new sessions on battery management in automotive applications as well as tutorials focusing on material selection and design principles for large lithium-ion batteries and battery systems for the grid.

Networking events, which included 95 exhibitors, provided a lively environment for discussion and business opportunities outside the conference sessions.
